Ordering a timepiece.
For clients who want a truly personal timepiece, commissioning a custom watch begins by selecting an existing design as the foundation for the build. During a personal consultation, you’ll discuss your desired modifications, customization options, and overall expectations with the watchmaker.
The prices shown for each model reflect the standard design. Any custom features or design changes are quoted separately and may increase both the final investment and the production timeline. Once the design details have been finalized, a deposit, a detailed scope of workmanship, and a commissioning agreement are required before construction begins.
Time to completion.
Because every watch is handcrafted from start to finish by a single independent American watchmaker, the typical commissioning process takes approximately 9 to 12 months. This deliberate pace allows each component to receive the time and care necessary to create a one-of-a-kind mechanical timepiece that reflects both the client’s vision and the craftsmanship for which James Goodwin Jr. is known.
Rather than purchasing a mass-produced watch, clients become part of the creative process and ultimately receive a handcrafted heirloom designed to be appreciated for generations.

The only watches to ever be in stock, are previously owned James Goodwin Jr. timepieces that have been traded in by their original owners toward the purchase of a new commission. Before being offered for sale, every trade-in watch is completely disassembled, inspected, serviced, re-certified, and backed by a warranty, giving collectors confidence that they are purchasing a timepiece that meets the same high standards as a newly commissioned watch.
